Air Condition knob in Pontiac

Firebird?? The knob for my air conditioning in my '99 firebird snapped. the white part on the inside snapped. It was stuck in there but it's not anymore, but the knob will no longer work because part of it is snapped so it doesn't stay in and wont turn the thing it's supposed to. Sorry I suck at explaining stuff. I wish I knew more about cars but I don't and I'm off at college so my dad can't help me lol. Anyway, where can I get a new knob and can I just snap it in myself or do I have to get it replaced by a professional?? Thanks so much!!

Take the old knob to your nearest dealer parts counter. They have new ones for a few dollars.

Check out the salvage yards - may get lucky. Also, see if the online resources such as rockauto.com carry that part. After that - stuck with the dealer - get your checkbook out.
