My Air stoped working and I was told to try one of the recharge kits w/ stop leak. It did not help so I took it to my local Garage and they told me hat the stopleak rewned the whole system. and told me it would be 2300+ to fix. A bit much for AC as far as I am concerned. And if a Product is sold and all it does is cause damage to the system I am thinking the manufacturer is lible for the damage it caused. Has anyone else had this problem with Stopleak? or a problerm that caused the whole system to be replaced?

Sounds like BS to me! Most of those R134a kits you see contain some form of stop leak. Those tall cans with the gauge on the hose have it too.

Most of the shops on my route use those small cans of stop leak when they recharge the systems.

How did they know stop leak was in the system? You probably told them and they figured since you couldn't fix it they had a golden opportunity.

I can understand that they don't want to contaminated their recovery machine, but there is a pre-filter that can grab the stop leak before it gets into the recovery machine.

Try a different shop and don't mention you tried anything yourself. Tell them you just bought the car over the winter and want the ac fixed if the cost is reasonable.

Stop Leak

I did not tell them anything but I guess they did some looking around the back of the van and found the package from the recharge kit behind the driver seat. Don't ask me what they were looking for, but I am not happy they were looking around in my van in areas that were unrelatde to the problem.

Well that's just one more reason to bring it somewhere else!

Might want to check the condenser. Pretty comman problem with Montanas.
