a little hard to see the picture with all the wires.
1. The plastic plug goes into the side of the alternator, make sure you insert it the correct way the wire with the 12v reading goes to #2 the wire with the very low voltage reading goes to #1.
2. The other heavy wire with a 12v reading goes to the post on the back of the alternator.
3. The remaining wire should be a ground and should screw into a hole in the back of the alternator with a bolt.

I'm assuming you do not have external regulator, you didnt provide the year of the car.

The 71 Lemans with the 75 350 with the overheating problem, Mel.

Btc89, did you ever get the overheating problem solved?

Id get rid of that black tape and use Heat Shrink Tubing , you can find it at Radio Shack or Home Depot ( in the electrical department)

Just slip it on the wires before sodering or wire crimping, slide it up , then use a lighter to shrink it. ( not too close with the flame ;) )

Cheap , Cleaner and Safer install.

Okay thanks! No my car is still overheating. I bought an Aluminum PWR Radiator and it still over heats.

I have a temp gauge hooked in on top of my intake by the water neck. Is there another place I can put it on the engine?

it overheats at idle and low speeds or at highway speeds?

At idle

do you have a fan shroud?
what is the initial timing set for?
do you have vacuum advance at idle?
the water pump has the correct spacing set up?
you are running a 180 or 160 thermostat?
the fan clutch is working?
you have the stock steel 5 blade or more fan and the correct diameter?
