looking for one and are hard to find em in v8 cars and refuse to get an automatic.
are the manual t5 transmissions in a v6 89 firebird the same as a v8 89 firebird?

NO, the T-5s are different for the V/6 cars and they are even weaker than the V/8 models whay anyone would want to keep a T-5 I just dont know ..
there is Not a decent replacment trans for the 3rd gen cars either unless you want to put a T-56 6 speed in and they are not much better and will only hold a few more fpTq and HP.. sure you don't want to consider an auto ...a TH-350 swap will give you a trans that will hold up and still allow you to shift it with a shift kit ..
