I HAVE A GRAND AM 2000. WITH 141458 MILES ON IT. IN I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY DOES IT PICK UP SPEED WITHOUT ME PUSHING MY FEET ON THE GAS ITS LIKE ITS DRIVING ITS SELF. IN MY BRAKES GETS HARD WHEN I TRY TO STOP. OO IN WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS IT OK THAT MY TEMP READS 200.... DOES THE THROTTLE HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH IT DOING THAT.
Ok i had got my intake gasket put in cause my antifreeze was runing out in they had to put a new thermsat in it. would that still cause is to get to 200. before i was like 195 now its 200 since i got the intake fix.

it sounds like your throttle cable is wore out and that is what is causing your breaks to wear out. your car is pushing when you are sitting still so all that pressure is on your breaks and they are probably getting hot. 200 is a little high. put some pure antifreeze in it not 50/50 blend. it is an engine coolant too

Bad power brake booster? A vacuum leak could cause it to idle faster. A 50/50 mix is good enough. Actually water transfers heat better than antifreeze.
