Hello all,

I had a bunked radiator that was spewing, so I took a trip down to the pick-ur-part and pulled one from a 2004 (I have a 2001). They are identical. When I pulled the one from the yard, I just unscrewed the automatic transmission cooler lines instead of pulling the little pin and undoing the quick disconnects.

I put it into the van, and the connections leak. They are leaking from inside the quick disconnect as best as I can tell. Keep in mind that I'm using the connections / bolts from my original van, so the sizing should be exactly the same. I've removed and reseated the connecting bolts to ensure that the the cooler is seated correctly, and I'm pretty sure that the fluid is coming from the hose side of the connection rather than the bolt/radiator side.

Anybody have any ideas as to what I did wrong or what I can do to fix it?

Also, I've *TEMPORARILY* bypassed the cooler with a bit of hosing. How long can I run the van until the trans kills itself? It's winter, so the ambient temperature is low-ish (in the 40s and 50s around here).

thanks,

-Jason

you may have bad sealing o-rings inside the quick disconnects if you just spun the connector out with the metal line in place.

here is a link to the replacement parts you will need, scroll down the list until you find the transmission quick disconnects. they also have the correct tools to remove these connectors.

you may be lucky and find them at your local parts store, find the parts you need using the link provided write the name brand and part number, you can either go in person or call around to see if they can be picked up.

Help also sells odd ball parts like this many times you can get them locally as well.

any GM part dealer should have factory replacements in stock.

if you can avoid driving it that would be best. only someone who could see into the future could tell you how long it would take to burn up the transmission.
