back hatch not staying up

I am having a problem with the back latch of my 2007 Torrent...it opens, (but very hard to open) and it does not stay open without me holding it up....this just happened today...and I noticed on occasions prior, that sometimes, when I would unlock the car, the back windshield would go on....are these connected somehow? And does anyone have any idea what's causing the hatch to not stay up?

If you have a strut that extends to hold it open, the gas in it is low or gone and the strut has to be replaced.

hi just had to put gas shocks in mind. had the same thing going on the door feel like it was 500 pounds repair around 70 bucks easy to put in
