I have another question about my girlfriend's 2003 Montana. About a month ago she got an alignment and rotate and balance cause it was pulling and bouncing really bad. They said they replaced a tie rod end as well. That seemed to help things but now it is back to bouncing really bad at highway speeds. It's bad enough that my girlfriend is afraid to drive it. I jacked it up and checked the wheel bearings and tie rod ends for play by trying to move the tire around. It seemed reasonably tight. I did notice that the tie rod end and the ball joint on the driver's side both have tears in their rubber boots. Is this bouncing most likely due to bad struts, bad balancing job, or something else? Any suggestions and things I should check would be appreciated.

bouncing or vibration? bouncing could be bad struts, vibration could be other issues, does the vibration occur only when braking?

I would say it's bouncing and vibrations...lol...I'm sure the struts are worn but I think every vehicle I've owned has had bad struts/shocks and never bounced or vibrated like this. This bouncing/vibration is at highway speeds when I'm not braking. There are no pulsations or anything when braking. I had a vehicle with a warped rotor before, but there are no symptoms like that with this van. I suppose it could be a bad tire, but they appear to be fine. She's got a parts van and we're gonna put 2 fairly new tires from that van onto this van and see if that affects things. I looked over it really good tonight and didn't see any movement in ball joints or tie rod ends. The ABS light has been on constantly for a while now and I've heard on these vans that could be caused by a bad wheel/hub bearing assembly. Could that cause bouncing or vibrations in the front end?

If the bearing is really bad you could end up with a vibration. Obviously something is loose or worn out in the front steering/suspension.

I know the anwser... I had the same exact problem mechanics couldnt figure it out First off look for (not normal Wear) on your front tires... the one that is bad if not both change the sway arm bushings. and the ball joints both VERY CHEAP bushings $14, Ball Joints $24 problem solved let me know if this helped...

I like cheap fixes.

My Montana was vibrating pretty bad, tuned out to be warped rotors. But the vibration only occurred when braking.

It's been a while since I asked this question. It took a while for me to get the tires from the parts van put on her main van. It must have been out of balance tires or bad tires. With the tires from the parts van, the main van drives much better and feels like normal again. Thanks for all the responses and ideas.
