beretta brake upgrade problems

so i completed the front brake conversion, with a little help from my local machine shop. they worked great for the first few days. i decided to "bed" the brakes and the next morning the drivers side started squealing intermittently when i wasnt on the brakes.

i went in, thinking it was the pads themselves, as the inboard pads seem to be held in with luck, and replaced the pads and rotors. i ended up with the same problem. the rotor wasnt being worn in. infact it still has the crosshatch pattern on em.

I ended up replacing the soft line, caliper, and bled the brakes. the squeel goes away for a minute, then comes back after i hit the brakes a few times. also, still no wear on the rotor, but the pads glaze.

replaced the master cylinder with one from an s-10 blazer, dissasembled and cleaned the combo valve, and bled the system. it went away for about 10 mins, then came back. bleeding that side, you dont get decent pressure. sometimes the pedal only goes down about 1/2 way down with the bleeder screw open.

checked the hard line, infact i have a new one to put on just incase. i'll be doing that today. when i took it off i noticed that little, if no fluid came out of that side.

does anyone have any idea what might be the culprit? this is driving me nucking futs !!1!! im going to try installing the new hard line, and bleeding the system again.

well i replaced the hard line, bled the system and it still squeaks after a bit. also took out the porportioning valve thingy out of the front to see if it was sticking or something. still squeeks. and that side still has no wear on the rotor!

does anyone have a clue as to what could cause this?

>_>

well guys im going nuts!! i went back to OE stuff and bled the brakes. after about 10 mins i could hear it. it gets progressibly louder the more i stop and go. when i hit the brakes while driving it will quiet up but will go back to its squeeky self. when i hit the brakes there is nothing. also no wear on that side.

can anyone help me

You sure the soft line doesnt have an internal collapse?

the soft line is brand new. i did however just unload the bearings while the caliper was still on, and it would ride evenly, but with alot of play. when i even hand tighten the bearings the assembly seems to go out of round.. im suspecting the spindle is effed up

I understand what you are saying but why would that prevent the caliper piston from applying the pads against the rotor? Are you pressure bleeding or gravity bleeding that side?

when i have that side in the air and i spin the rotor with the caliper still on i can feel it catch on one spot. like the rotor/ hub assembly isnt seating properly. everything is new tho, im going to swap assemblies side to side and hope it makes a difference.

If the bearings were over-tightened or improperly greased it could have damaged the spindle. I would remove the rotors and inspect the spindle and the bearings on the rotor.

i checked the bearings and the spindles on both sides, repacked and reinstalled them. they looked fine, i checked out how the bearings sat on the spindle as well. i did notice something strange, on the passenger side the caliper has a pretty good squeeze on the rotor. while the drivers side is too loose.. could the problem be in the lines to the passenger side instead of the drivers side?

it seems like when i bleed the system it brings the pads to where they are supposed to be against the rotor. but as i drive and press the brakes the drivers side caliper piston moves out little by little. it seemed to get worse every time id brake. im going to bleed both sides and compare, and drive it again to see what happens.

ive changed calipers 3 times since this started. i'm gonna check and see the difference between how the left slides than the right, but i checked yesterday and it moves on its slides. im wondering if the proportioning valve could have anything to do with this

YAY finally!!

well i ganked a combo valve from the junkyard and swapped it in and WOOOO HOOOO it hella worked :D

dont ask me how, cause quite honestly it doesnt make much sence as to why it would cause it, but the pads ride snugly against the rotor now. thanks for all your suggestions this was a weird ass problem...

Is it the sheet metal cover on the inside of the rotor rubbing on the rotor?
