Very high dollar cars came on tonight at Barrett-Jackson.

Smokey and the Bandit studio promotion car went for 500K!

7 mile, 10 year anniversary car went for big bucks also and a Turbo sold for alot too.

I think the B-J prices dont really represent anywhere near what the average person can sell their cars for. Unfortunately this has a tendency to inflate asking prices.

I was shocked that they went for that much Mel, the other 2 went over 100k also...............

Rick Hendrick bought the 550K one, but we know he has the big bucks..;)

Alot a dough for late 70's early 80's cars.................................:)

All the cars listed are special in their own way, two are low to nearly no miles. One was titled to Burt Reynolds and was a movie promo car.

The average survivor TA can sell for great money with the right paper work and condition.

I think the main reason these cars are selling for so much, is because the very people who were young and influenced by these cars when they were new have grown up wanting to relive the past and some have pockets deep enough to buy the very best.

yeah, it has inflated the prices. seller, dealer in texas now thinks his rusty 79 TATA is worth 5500 more today than it was 2 weeks ago when I spoke to him. he said because of the auction, it raises prices across the board. what a ton of BS

I have to wonder who and what these people think when they bid these cars so high. now everyone thinks their rusty 80 T/A bucket is worth 10K. is a joke.
peeps need to be realistic on prices. granted, smoke and bandit actual car will go for a lot, and so will a TATA with 20 miles on it.
but, a lot of the cars seem to be driver quality at best.
there is a guy in my Pontiac car club here in Kansas city, who is trying Mecum next month to unload a 75 T/A 400 4 speed that he bought last May. the car runs and looks good but has issues and is loud and cammed up which he don't like. he trying to get 23K for it at Mecum. but some cars are just daily drivers it seems and peeps just keep bidding them up. I have been to some estate auctions where stupid peeps bid up price of a silly toaster higher than I can go to Walmart and buy one for. maybe its just the adrenlin or rush of bidding. but it gets silly. maybe some of that runs into the car auctions too.
