All my new cars purchased have been by GM and I just took ownership of the 2006 Solstice which was GM's first reasonably priced sports car. Although it does not have to power of the corvette, my first choice, it is a very cool car. I purchase this car without even test driving it figuring that when I was younger I had owned both a 1970 MG and 1972 MGB the ride had to be better than those years. I was not disappointed, the ride is very comfortable. It lacks a good sound system and what I'm trying to find is where to go to get a good aftermarket system. No clue where to start looking. I would be grateful if someone could lead me in the right direction

The type of system you're looking for will depend on the type of sound you want, so it's really kind of a crap shoot for us recommending anything until you let us know that. Besides, your local stereo shop or Bestbuy/Circuit City will do just as well (and if you have them install it then you can have a warranty on it too, a good thing with your new Solstice).

Me, I always preferred fidelity over amplitude, and I don't care for the deep bass that's popular with the younger set. But then again I'm in my forties and the music I listen to has more screamin' guitars than funky bass grooves...:D

Yo
Do any of you Solstice freaks out there know if the stock stereo in this pig, is the same one used in the other pontiac cars. do they make aftermarket stereo's that look good in the dash of this bad boy

do you have the monsoon?

I got the upgraded 7 speaker monsoon system in mine and it is pretty darn good for a stock system (the base radio speakers are horrible though). has an 8" subwoofer, and components up front and two small rear full range speakers all powered by an amp. My friend and I put a nice system in his MR2 Spyder that cost around $2K (boston acoustics pro components, extant amp, JL 8" sub, & MP3 head-unit.) and the monsoon is right there with it. It's hard to get great sound in a roadster but this is pretty good.
