Lately, I've been looking into turbochargers and supercharger kits for the Grand Am. (Mine specifically is a 2001 SE with the DOHC 2.4l motor) I've seen several different kits for forced induction, but most of them mention that they're for the "ecotec" 2.2 and 2.4 engines. I wanted to see if there was a legitimate difference between the quad 4s and the ecotecs, to the point where I wouldn't be able to use the same kit. Most of the forums I've read are just people bickering back and forth about how one is better than the other- but no legitimate answer as to if there's a difference.

Any advice or suggestions help!

The two engine are not similar at all so a kit for the Ecotec wont work for a Quad 4. You may also want to read the two links below. If you are not willing to tear into the engine to strengthen it for the stress of a turbo I would advise against it.

I have a turbo 2.4 ld9. I used an eBay universal turbo kit and a log manifold I got on a fb group. 15 psi. Stock internals. Did it a few years and a few thousand miles ago. Mine is a 5 speed

I’m getting ready to do mine. I have a 2001 2.4l 4cylinder. The oil ran low then oil pump got destroyed then the rest followed. Worst sound in the world. Tried to save her with some Lucas but she hurt bad. So ima replace the engine and while I’m at it put a turbo.
