My brakes were working fine until this morning i noticed that there is little resistance when pushing the brake pedal. The brakes still work but when i go to stop at a red light i feel a bit of resistance at first but the longer i hold the brake the more it sinks down right to the floor. Any ideas? Worn brake pads or low brake fluid maybe??

If it sinks to the floor you have a leak somewhere in the system or a worn master cylinder. Have you checked the master cylinder fluid level? Have you checked the front calipers and rear wheel cylinders for leaks?

I havent looked at anything yet just on my way home from work and the parking brake engaged indicator light and brake warning indicator lights are on now.

I checked the master cylinder fluid level and it was low so I filled it up and I checked the front brake hoses and calipers and I can't see any leaks or signs of leaking. The only thing I found so far is one brake hose looks like its worn out in a few places. I haven't checked the rear yet.

Depending on how low it was, it could be normal as the pads and shoes wear or a sign of a leak. Let us know what you find in the rear.

How do you bleed the brakes on a 01 sunfire? It looks like its leaking out of the front brake line so im going to replace it tonight but how do you bleed the brakes?

You can try gravity bleeding or have an assistant step on the pedal when you open the bleed screw. I assume you havent completely drained the master and ABS unit.
