Bright Light Indicator

Anyone know why bright light indicator would not turn off so tried turning brights off several times then noticed a burning smell and smoke coming out of base of turn signlar on dash and front end lights flickered. Immediately turned off engine off. Dealer says everythinglooks ok. Worried that there is an electrial problem. Any idea what it could be?

what kind of dealer told you everything is OK, a GM dealer?

Yes a GM dealer told me that. Upon getting other work done recently the dealer discovered the turn signal needed to be replaced. Was not able to diagnose it the first time I took vehicle in.
Looking back now I remember getting I 'schocked' every time I got into the vehicle and as soon as this was replaced the problem was fixed.
