Cam position sensor

Van would die when hot and start after cooling off, code reads cam sensor, I would like to replace it. I have tried to move the steering pump by loosening but it won’t slide completely out. The sensor has movement but the back lip looks like it's stuck under intake manifold. Some 80k the back head gasket was replaced in a shop but for some reason no spark plugs (even thou they have charged me for it). The van has 250k miles, thanks to my wife driving most of it, so I don’t won’t to spend too much on repairs since it is not primary vehicle any more. Is that normal wear item? Is it something the shop should have replaced by default especially with high mileage engine?

do a search for "cam sensor" you should find some info about it here on the forum I've remember reading about some members changing them out and how a pita it was . I don;t have any experience with them. Good luck and keep us posted.
