Hello, everyone,

I have discovered a component in the engine mounting bracket in the engine compartment of my 1993 Firebird. I think that the component is not right there. Can someone tell me what this is and where it actually belongs? The sensor seems to be a pressure sensor, as I can press the sensor in one opening like a button.

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks a lot in advance,
LightRO

Sensors dont have buttons you can press. Do the wires go to the starter solenoid?
If so a careless mechanic left a starter bump switch.
If they don't go to the solenoid, where do they go?

Hello,

I traced the wire once. It goes past the oil filter to a cable connector.

I don't think it's from the starter, by the way, because it doesn't have any problems. The only problem I have is that the oil pressure is not displayed correctly and the air conditioning does not work.

But maybe somebody can see what this is and where it belongs ^^.

Is this a 3.4 or a 5.7?
Did you just buy this car ?
If you did have you asked the prior owner?
If it is a 3.4 the oil pressure switch is on front of the engine above the starter.
Is the switch connected to the wire harness?

This car is a 3,4L V6 from 1993 Gen.4 before facelift.

Unfortunately I have the car for more than a year and I never noticed it. I thought that is so right there. I wanted to know what kind of part it was and I pulled it out of the engine mount yesterday.

Unfortunately the American car dealer doesn't know anything about it either and can't help me there.

It is interesting that the brown cable arrives at the "bell" but at the bottom it seems that there is a brown and a blue cable coming out of the cable tube.

Unfortunately I can't see the starter from above, because it is relatively close to the gearbox and cannot be seen from above from the engine compartment.

I just noticed you are in Germany.
I asked you about the oil sender, a correction to my original statement, it is above the oil filter.
Do you see it and is it connected to a wire?
In addition look on the side of the engine oil pan for the low oil level sensor, see if it is connected.
In case you do not have one, below is the owners manual

Thanks for your help,

the component is really a broken apart oil pressure sensor.

Can you tell me if there is only one Lohfarben cable going to the sensor or if there are several?

Because the oil pressure value in the instrument panel is 5.5 bar.

5.5 bar is about 77 psi which is extremely high.
Did you mean PSI?
This is the part number I found, the sensor description shows 3 terminals but I do not know if the wire harness has two or three wires.
