can you tow?

I am looking at a 1991 sunfire convertible. can you tow anything with it. like 1000 to 1200lbs?

I haven't bought the car so i will have to have a look at it and see if she has a manual.
i looked on the net and there is nothing about towing capacity. we want to buy a quicksilver tent trailer and they are around 700lbs so i thought it should be no problem with v6 but maybe a convertable cant be used for towing.
any links or ideas would be great

do you mean a 1991 sunbird, there was no sunfire in 1991 it started in 1995?

i found a canadian site that lists a 1993 with a base towing capacity of 1,000kg, but I think it should be a 1,000 lbs.

Yes, it doesn't make sense to tow something the same weight as your car.
I thinking that it might not be a good idea to be towing anything with a convertible car that small anyway.
