Can't remove lower shock bolt?

Swapping out my rear shocks since they were leaking. Driver side one comes out fine. Passenger side is giving me fits. The lower bolt has attached itself to the shock. When I move the shock up and down the bolt also moves. But then if I take the impact to it, the impact will spin the bolt very slowly and the shock will not move. I've hit it with a sledge countless number of times. I soaked it in Liquid Wrench for a while. I read one person say they did this every day for a week and then it loosened up

Would heat help? Any other ideas to pry it loose somehow?

Using the Monroe MA-824s as replacements

If i am understanding this correctly it is the bolt and nut on the bottom of the shock . Might have to cut it off using saw zaw or grinder.
 
Very interested in a write up if you could do when done. My air shocks are also bad they leak and rear endbounces a bit. Looking for a cheap direct replacement.
 
There's a couple good videos on youtube about it, but here's a quick overview

  1. Jack up the rear of the van
  2. I took off the wheels to access the bolts easier, but you don't have to
  3. Need a 18mm socket, 18mm wrench, and socket extensions
  4. Unclip the air connector by removing the clip, then pulling it off
  5. Remove the top bolt (no nut on the back)
  6. Remove the bottom bolt
  7. Take out the old shock
  8. Put the new one in (may need to pry open the top connector to get it in there)
  9. Put the bottom bolt in, then the top bolt, re-connect the air line, and put the wheel back on if you took it off

The shocks you choose depends on whether your van has the auto-leveling or not. Mine does so the Max-Airs were the best option for me. Got them from RockAuto for a good price, but shop around
 
Yea i have the auto level and have been looking at the on rockauto. ~$59 + shipping. Not a bad price. Let me know your opinion of the Monroe's . Thanks for the write up.
 
Did the max airs hook up to the air lines without any plumbing problems? I am in the same boat and been looking around and see problems hooking up air lines.
 
Google those shocks that rock auto sells and look at the reviews on amazon website. Reviews says the air lines go right on the new shocks.

The driver side one seemed to hook up fine for me. Going to talk to my buddy this weekend about torching the bolt/bushing/whatever to see if I have a chance at getting this removed. If I remember I'll try to snap a picture
