98 sunfire 2.2 manual. I got car and it was pulling hard to the left when braking. So I replaced front rotors, calipers, and pads. Also replaced rear drums, shoes, wheel cylinders. It is not as severe as when i got it, but it still pulls left when i first brake. Please help thanks

check for a collapsed rubber hose right front, probably best to replace both

I used to have this problem with another car... I learned it was the ball joints / lower control arms.. wheel was tilted also then straightened out when going.. had it happen where it was straight and it'd jerk left too..

Doubt it would be ball joints, but if the control arm-to-frame bushings are shot the steering knuckle may be moving rearward a little when the brake are applied, steering the car to the left. Not sure if you can replace just the bushings on that arm, or if you have to replace the whole control arm.

Might was well replace both lower arms just to be safe.

I will be pulling car in garage tomorrow and tracking things down hopefully! I will post as soon as I find anything. Thanks

I pulled car in checked out a few things. First I checked all brake lines steel and rubber, they all appear to be ok. I have bleed the brakes 4 times with no change in results. There is no major problems with car. Maybe just some loose bushings. When I am driving the car it feels like the front left brake is the first one to start braking and the last one to release when I let off the brakes. I am not to sure where to go from here. I guess I might try and replace some of the bushings? Any help would be great. Thanks

replace the hoses, you cannt tell from the outside if a hose is collapsed internally

will do! i will let you know saturday Thanks

when you drive it without braking do you get a shimmy or shaking in the steering wheel or front end?

When driving it feels great! no pulling, shaking, shimming nothiung its great! So i just replaced both front brake hoses, and it made a big differance. The pull to the left is still there when braking. It did improve alot, but still slightly pulling left, it feels like its in the front end, Im not to sure what to try next, but im gonna try the control arms. I will be replacing both front lower control arms with brand new ones with new bushings and balljoints. I really hope this helps, i cant afford to replace everything thanks

Befor you do that you should check the struts..stand in the middle of the bumper and press down hard..it should only bounce 2 or 3 times..If it does more you might have bad struts..if when doing that the front end pushes to the left or right you chould have a bad strut and both should be replaced..if all is good with that check your tires, they should be 32 psi all around..I like to fill them in the morning so that the cars tires and the air in them are not hot and you get a proper read..I also like to use a slime gauge..just get a cheap tire pump that you can get at a auto parts store..after that try switching the front tires with eachother. if the car pulls to the right you have uneven wear and should replace them..and they might be uneven do to the alignment being off..

ok we got it. I replaced the lower control arms and that was the rest of the problem. Between the control arms and the brake lines that was my problem thanks for the help everyone
