car wont start after head install

do a compression test. Why did you pull the head in the first place?
 
I removed valve cover and all valves are opening and closing when i turn the crank. I did a compression test on 1 cylinder and it gave 90. I noticed that while turning the crank i could hear a hissing sound as in compression. I am not sure if i should be able to hear that.
 
why did you pull the head and what was done to it, 90 sounds low to me, should be about 150
 
One of the spark plugs thread was destroyed years ago by overheating. The mechanic that fixed thaT used an epoxy to glue the spark plug on place well 3 years later the glue was gone and spark plug went loose again. Car w ould turn on but with a failure and loss of compression. so i took the head out took it to a machine shop and they fixed it. thats all. now i c removed the the head again and everything looks fine. But i am loosing compression somewhere

So you didnt have the machine shop do a valve job while they had the head? Did you check the compression on the other cylinders before removing the head again? Place the head upside down and fill each combustion chamber with oil. Check it 24 hours later to see if the oil leaked past the valves.
 
I bought a gasket sealant spray and sprayed tha head gasket with it and installed it back. One question am i supposed to hear a hissing sound when manually turning the crank?? I do hear a hissing sound kinda coming from the throttle body.
 
Ok tried to start the car and it did Start finally with that sealant
 
Am getting 120 to 130 compresion

Did you follow the correct bolt tightening sequence and use the correct torque?

and you had to use a sealer ? i do a full top end rebuild about twice a week and never have gasket troubles,makes me wonder if you have a warped head or block.
 
Well car suffered severe overheating damage from what i am told the head melted badly and was repaired the machine shop i took the head to they did a good job on the head not sure if block was worked on that time
 
Machine shop guu said i needed to remove lifter and discharge them so they adjust to the new correct head size since he rectified it. How true Is this?

did you do a compression test? if you get about 150 you have no valves stuck open because of a pumped up lifter
 
how do i discharge lifters? how do i remove them? do i have to open up the block? or can i remove them from right there?
 
Personally I believe that is BS. Hydraulic lifters have bleed holes, over time/overnight at most, they will bleed down all by themselves. You did correctly torque the rockers arms? Did you do the compression test?
