I have a base/factory/whatever CD player/radio in my 2005 Sunfire. A few days ago the CD player stopped working. When I put a CD in, it waits a few seconds then switches back to radio and says "ERR". No code or message other than ERR. Radio works fine.

Is there anything that can be done other than taking it out? Idk know how to go about taking it out.

Does it do it with all CD's? You might need to try running a laser cleaning disk in it and see what happens.

I bought a GE laser lens cleaner with little brushes on the disc that presuumably clean the lens but it gets the same ERR message as every other CD.

It could be a problem with the motor inside that moves the disc up and down to mount/dismount it from the spindle. You could try removing it from the dash, and opening it up and see what it's doing when you insert a CD. FWIW, you might just be better off putting another H/U in it.

I don't have a clue how to take it out without breaking anything. Looks kind of hard. Does anyone know of any videos or anything showing how to take it out on a 2005 Sunfire? I don't know what H/U means either.

Maybe I'll just head up to Car Toys or something.

Thanks for the link, was actually quite easy.

It looked like the CD went down when I put it in, but it never spins. Also, the radio display stopped working for some reason after I took it out and hooked it back up. Oh well. I am utterly clueless when it comes to radios, would I be able to just buy a new one and hook it up the same way this one is hooked up in the video? Mine is a 2005 so the radio is different than the one in the video but the steps to take it out and the connector on back are the same.

i just bought a 05 Sunfire the only thing wrong with the Radio is the CD wont eject. is there like a pin hole or something on the back if the radio it self to manaully eject the CD out of the player. the CD thats stuck in it is Nickleback. i was wanting to make my wife a MP3 CD of Country and me one of classic rock. any suggestions would be helpful
Thanks

Never heard of a manual rejection mechanism. Did you try pulling the radio fuse and then reinstalling?
