Find the Belt tensioner, It is spring loaded. I believe a 1/2 inch ratchet or breaker bar to push back against the spring.. If you have the new belt there with you when taking old one off, it will be alot easier to remember the belt direction in case you dont have the sticker on the core support.
No, just find the tensioner and release the tension on the band.
If its a 3.4 engine it will have a belt routing picture where the belt is.
If its a 3.8 i believe it should be somewhere on the left side, next to the belt anyway.

Wow, really? The image part is true. But to answer your question YES, I and my mechanic had to do just that as the frigging engine is sideways and the engine mounts keep you from removing the belt.
