Dear all,
I have a Pontiac Montana SV6 2006. The power at cigarette lighter is now always on. Can someone suggest how to change it to just power on when the engine is running?
Thank you,
TD

Are you stating in the past that the power to the lighter cut off after the vehicle was turned off or that the power cut off after about 10 minutes? If that is the case have you noticed any other issues such as the interior lights not shutting off after the door is closed?

Dear melsg5, the lighter is always on regardless the engine is running or off. That bothers me as I am using portable navigator and dashboard camera. The always-on lighter drain battery. I also have to turn off the dashboard camera manually.
I have checked and see that the lighter never come off. I can still see the indicator light after 15 min from engine stops.
Could you please suggest a solution?
Thank you,
TD

put a toggle switch in the power wire circuit going to the lighter

Thank you. It's the most simple solution. But I am just wondering if there is a place on the fuse board that change the behavior from always-on to just-on when engine running.
Thank you,
TD

you can buy a separate generic cigarette lighter, mount it under the dash, and using a test light find a fuse that is only powered when the engine is running. Then run the power wire from the new lighter to that fuse.
