I just picked up a '96 Grand Am SE w/3.1 ltr, great running car even at 162000 miles. Just a few issues, it did develop the "theft lockout" issue, but it's workable.

My main concern is the climate control. It seems to work great when I start the car cold, but as I drive it dies off. And doesn't seem to be working after it does die. Any thoughts?

Can you be more specific as what problem you are having with the climate control? No heat, A/C doesnt work, fan doesnt work, etc.

At this point, it's just the fan. When it works there is good heat. Haven't tested the ac yet.

So the fan doesnt work or stops working at all fan speeds? The lower fan speeds have a resistor which can burn out and you end up with only high speed. If the problem is all speeds it could be the blower motor. You would have to test it by applying power directly to the motor and see if it stops after a few minutes.

Yeah, it stops working at all speeds. Both motor and resistor are cheap, may just end up replacing them. At least now I have a good diaognosis. Thank you.

Anyone have a pic or diagram of where the blower motor resistor is located?
