Hello Forum!

I am interested in purchasing an 01 sunfire, but it needs a new clutch(add says leaky slave cylinder). I have replaced several clutches in rwd trucks, but never have tackled a fwd car. Is this a backyard mechanic weekender type job, or should I give up and let a shop tackle it? parts for kit cost 741(CAN) and labour at the shop is another 6hun on top. Are there any specialty tools required? Any hints, tips greatly appreciated!

access to the clutch components...... removal is generally accomplished by removing the trans axle leaving the engine in place.......i have not done any ...but if you can do a rwd its about the same. according to my shop book. but after reading it......theres a lot of work getting the tranny out 38 steps.mostly disconnecting things. do you have a book? if you have a book and tools you can do it yourself.

yeah, tried to look at a book online, cant find one without payin for it. I guess I will check out car and go from there. So tranny has to come out to change clutch then eh? Shop says 5.6hours, so thats prolly where most the labour is. Thx for heads up!!

Go to autozone and register. Then add your car. you should be able to use their ALLDATA online
