Hi all. I've got a 2005 Sunfire. The plastic end of the clutch master cylinder broke off the post on the clutch pedal, so have to replace the whole clutch master cylinder. Why that isn't a replaceable part...

Does anyone know how to get the hydraulic line off the master cylinder? It's not the white push thing. There's a slit on both sides of the connector with a metal piece inside the slit. It's not a clip, but I don't see how to get it out. Anyone have any experience with this kind of connection? Googled for an answer but haven't found anything.

Thanks!

Here's a picture. Hopefully this makes more sense.

you have to remove the clip, GM probably has a special tool, have you tried a small flat blade screwdriver.

Thanks for the reply. Can't seem to get a flat blade in there. Is it a clip? I found this image of the new part. At the top of the picture, it looks like there is a metal tooth on the top and bottom of the hole. Doesn't appear to be a clip. But know how to back them out. Probably a tool, but thought I'd see if anyone knew for sure.

yes it is a "U" shaped clip. Have you tried googling "cavalier clutch master cylinder replacement", you may get more useful hits?

Thanks. Finally got the clip out but now can't get new one in. Any tricks to getting it back in? Already bent one trying. Thanks.

The clip went in this way(see pics). Is that the correct way or should it enter through the slit? It seems to work this way and be in pretty tight, but after bleeding the line, it's not building up any pressure when the clutch pedal is pressed. Doesn't appear to be leaking out the connection.

Also, the plastic piece at the end of the rod, that attaches to the clutch pedal, seems to fall off easily. Is there any kind of clip that holds that on? Didn't see one in the box.

Thanks for any assistance!
