I have a 2008 Torrent GXP with the 3.6 LY7 that has had a timing chain tensioner failure. Surprise, I know. Lol. The cam retaining caps are cracked so I am looking for a replacement cylinder head. All of the sources I have found are asking for casting numbers. The problem is, my head has a blank spot where the casting number should be. It has a number laser etched above where the casting number is supposed to be.
My question is how different are the LY7 heads from one another? Does anyone have experience with installing replacement heads and may be able to describe the difference in them.
I am a professional mechanic so this isn't my first rodeo with engines but is the first time ai have seen a GM cylinder head without the all important casting number.
