Just putting the word out in case there is not another post yet on this topic on this forum. I did a Search in the forum for C305, but nothing came up.

The connector 305 (C305) went bad in my 04 Aztek. Symptoms were service engine light on. Cleared, came back on next day. I had just filled up with gas so it seemed like a finicky gas cap annoyance light at first. Then the service engine light went back off by itself a day or two later. Then a couple days after that, when I reversed out of my driveway, RPMs were 1500 with no pressing accelerator. Put in drive, same. Lurched up to stop sign and decided to make a U-turn and go back home immediately, have the ****** towed. My auto shop did a little research in a tech forum online and got a tip about the C305. Sure enough, it was full of water, green stuff, and gunk. Thoroughly cleaned and put back together, runs great (so far). They said it's not the best design to have the connector not be more protected from the elements and C305 is a trend problem in Azteks. They put a conductive grease inside the connector before putting it back together to keep water out and improve connection.

Thanks for the post

For anyone who searches for gas cap :
Just adding here onto my same thread since, who knows, maybe this was related to my earlier issue. So Service Engine Light came on a couple days ago, with no observable symptoms, threw code P0442. Checked gas cap, and looks awful. I should have known better and I should have replaced it long before now. Live and learn. I don't know that this fixes my p0442 code, but certainly needs to be ruled out, given the poor condition of my current gas cap. GM Part Number: 10313490, input on Rock Auto and got: Gates 31636. There is an AC Delco cap also but I didn't choose it, because it wasn't listed at Rock Auto inventory, didn't look exactly like the one I already had, and appeared to cost more. New one fits perfectly and seals good! Now, to see if she stops coding!
