Big waste of money. First off you will never see 5PSI of boost. PSI requires a turbine to compress the air not just blow air. If you want actually proof check out a typical leaf blower. Turn it on and place your hand about 6" in front of it. You will feel pressure on your hand. Now cover the end of the leaf blower. You will feel a lot less pressure because the air has no place to flow and the fan blades now cavitate because they cannot compress the air. No compression no psi boost.

They boast 1000 cfm. That is like a car with a large hood scoop travelling at 30 mph. Meaning a large scoop on a car travelling at 65 mph on a highway would have twice the power!

Electric fans are just gimmicks.
 
I would think it would cause a power loss because it is restricting the normal airflow. As Oreif said, it's an electric fan not a turbine.
