I converted my 1968 lemans from automatic transmission to a manual 4 speed Muncie M20. I reused the old crossmember. Bought a new transmission mount for the crossmember. I was told the transmission mount is the same for the automatic and manual tranny. The U joint nearest the tranny is rubbing against the tranny tunnel. And the tranny seems to be sitting a little higher than the automatic tranny did. Any thoughts?? Thanks. JIMB

they use the same crossmember and mount. Perhaps you are using the wrong mount. Check with whomever sold you the mount.

Still have issues with the transmission sitting too high in the tunnel. I checked the transmission mount and it seems to be the right one. Not sure what is going on. But the transmission is hitting the tunnel. And since the back of the tranny is too high the front of the motor is tilted down and now hitting one of the front steering bars. Any Ideas???

I should have added I swapped the old 350 to a 400 engine. So, swapped motor and swapped transmission. Nothing is the same.

The tranny is sitting about 1 inch too high at the transmission mount. I am almost ready to cut 1 inch out of the transmission mount and weld it back together.

Thanks . . . jIMB

1. Did you replace the motor mounts with new ones? No chance if old ones they are too compressed.
2. The new transmission mount is the same height as the old one?
