1968 LeMans has a courtesy / map light mounted under the dash above the radio. For the life of me I can’t find the lamp bulb that fits. No reference I can find in the service manual, web search isn’t helping, and no luck at O’Reilly’s. I found the entire assembly online at The Parts Place but not just the bulb (which looks different in their illustration anyway). A picture of the bulb I removed is attached. The number on it is faded to illegibility but if I was to guess it looks like O (or maybe D) 92 but those don’t bring up anything relevant in a web search. Can anyone identify it? Thanks!

Definitely not 211-2. I have one and that lamp fits the dome light but not courtesy. The ends are too big for the courtesy, and the 211-1 looks the same.

Try emailing them the picture

So to close this thread out, here’s what I found. I talked to Dennis at bulbworks.com and he ID’d the bulb as a 551. This bulb was discontinued from manufacture about 30 years ago. That explains why the replacement lamp assembly at The Parts Place uses a 211-2. Fortunately for me bulbworks had 8 old bulbs in stock. I ordered 2. Thanks again for coming through again melsg5!

Wow, that was a real buried treasure hunt, glad you found it.
