Ok so I have an 01 Pontiac grand am 2.4l and I am replacing the intake camshaft housing. It has a check where the oil pressure switch screws into. So to replace this housing I need to take the timing cover off, and to do that I need to remove the crankshaft pulley. My issue is I can't find anything without spending a lot of money to hold the pulley in place so I can take the dam blt off. Somebody told me to stick a giant screwdriver in the flex plate? I'm assuming if I remove my starter? Idk. I really need some help on this so my girlfriend can have her car back. Can someone who has done this before explain to me how I can stop the motor from turningover WITHOUT putting rope in my head to stop the piston or WITHOUT using an impact gun. Please help thanks guys.

Ok But do I really wanna run the risk of bending or warping my pulley? And what can I stick in there to wedge it and what can I put it against to hold the tension

Ok so I just called autozone and they don't carry such a tool. Where else would I be able to get it? Napa maybe? Online they want 300+ dollars for it Nd I'm only gunna use it for 5 minutes!!! Lol thanks for your help too brother

Did you try the method suggested in step 9? The factory tool goes through the pulley the same way.
