Any suggestions on how to hold up the dash while iI try to install the ground straps for the
Printed circuit board??? I put in a new harness but did not know there were ground straps needed.
Having problem with idiot lights and fuel gauge not working.

Not sure what steps you took to remove the instrument cluster. The 71 manual has these steps for removal.
Remove lower instrument panel and glove box.
Lower steering column.
Remove 3 instrument panel screws at gages.
Remove 3 right upper instrument panel nuts.
Remove lower instrument panel bolts at right and left ends and at steering column.
Position crash pad outward on steering column.
Disconnect printed circuit.
The section on the printed circuit says
Disconnect wire connector to printed circuit.
Remove bulbs, ground screws, and gage terminal nuts retaining printed circuit to instrument panel cluster.
There is no mention of straps and the diagram does not show any.
Do you have a copy of the factory 1972 Pontiac Service Manual?
