Hi everyone, this is my first thread. Could someone please tell me if the 2003 2.2 ecotec is an interference engine. Thanks so much

I believe it is, did your timing chain break?

I believe it did. It has been running rough for about a week, and today I just started it up and it got quite rattly , so I shut it off and it didn't start again. The starter motor is spinning but it doesn't sound like it is engaging.

If it runs, the timing chain isn't broken.

You probably need a new tensioner, guides, and chain. GM redesigned the tensioner on newer Ecotecs.
