dies after running

hoping this forum can help me out alittle bit. give you a little history im in the military and my grandpa just cave me this car and said he doesn't know what is wrong with it. it run fine when it is cold and everything. but once u get it up and runnign and start drivign in the city it dies at light. Can u guys give me some in sight on what it could be...

if it dies at idle, it could be a stuck EGR valve. if it dies after it warms up, i would suspect an ignition component problem more than likely a module is going bad. it could be other things but this is where i would start.

something else i just thought. if it dies after you have driven for a while, it could be that the torque converter is not releasing. a lot of cars have a lock-up torque converter that is controlled by a solenoid and the solenoid might not be working, assuming you have an automatic transmission with it. just my 2 cents.
