How do I know which design/generation 3.8ltr that I have without pulling the intake manifold? I need new head gaskets. And, how do I know if I have a real Trans-Am? It reads Trans-Am above the rear locking cylinder, but, not on the title. Thank you!

A Trans Am with a V6, I dont think so.
What year is the car.

Sorry. It is a 2001. It reads TRANS-AM on the back, though.
And, the Z-28 I think had a V-8 and a V-6. So, I wasn't sure. I seen a V-6 in a salvage yard, once.
Wishful thinking, I guess.

In 2001 the engine would be a series II.
Somebody put a decal on the car.

So, in 2001 there were no series 1 3.8ltr's?
If there was a way that I could add a photo, I probably would. It is no aftermarket decal. It has the bird below, and around the lock cylinder, and TRANS-AM above the lock cylinder. It is a part of the factory mold that does not separate.
HEY! I found out how to attach files! Yeah me!

All you have to do is google pontiac trans am to discover it only came with the 5.7 V8.
The series II started in 1996 in the Firebird.

I have another question about my 2001 Firebird interchanging with a 1996 Camaro (both K code, 3.8ltr.). Intake manifold (upper/lower) '96 > '01? Thank you!

Lower is the same part number, upper is different. Did you check if Dorman makes a metal replacement for your car?
