My dome light doesn't work so I bought a voltmeter off eBay so I could test it. The bulb was replaced, and both door jamb switches were also replaced and still nothing. Also, all the fuses look good. So now I want to test it but I've never used a voltmeter before and have no idea how to use it. Can anyone help? Thorough instructions please.

Here's a pic of the voltmeter that I bought...

Plug the red test lead into the right port (VOmA) on the meter, and the black lead to COM port. Put the meter on the 20 volt range DC and connect the black lead to a known good ground point, and touch the red probe to the wire terminal you want to check for voltage. You can also check a wire for continuity by placing the meter setting to the little diode symbol (about the 5 o'clock position on the range dial). you then touch one lead to one end of the wire you want to check, and the other one to the other end of the wire. If the meter beeps, the wire has no breaks in the conductor. To check the resistance of a sensor, etc.) you place the meter into a resistance range and probes across the two connections you want to check. You always check resistance to an unpowered device. To check current in a circuit, you move the red probe over to the left port, and use the meter to complete the current path of what you want to check. Just be sure not to exceed the max current capacity of the meter. Hope that helps.
