Hello, Im Jake, and I'm new to this forum. Just recently I bought a used 1997 Grand AM Sedan, and its in excellent condition. However, the speakers did not live up to my taste, so I bought a set of PowerBass speakers. I cannot install the front two though, because I cannot get the darned door panel off. I do not have power windows, so after I get the whole panel unclipped, it is held on by the window 'roller-upper' and I can not figure out how to get it off. It doesnt have any hidden screws to screw it off, and I'm affraid to just pop it off in case it wont go back on. So can somebody maybe guide me on how to get this door off? It would be greatly appreciated.
;)

There is a special tool that skips between the door winder and the door panel which pops a clip retaining the handle. You should be able to get one at an auto parts store.

Thanks. I will definitely look into that. But, I am very impatient, and I'm not to thrilled about having to buy a tool that I'm only going to use once. So if anyone else has a way that I can do it myself, with regular tools, safely, please let me know. :)

Why dont you price the tool before damaging the door panel some other way. It's basically a screwdriver type handle with a flat sheet metal type attachment with a cutout that pushes the clip out. It's probably less than $10.

Alright, I'll try Advanced Auto Parts here in a bit. I heard from one of my buddies that you can take a old cloth, or T-Shirt or something and fit it around the handle where it clips on to the door itself, and just rub it back and forth until the clip pops off. As you can tell melsg5, I am very cheap, haha. I payed $1250 for my Grand AM and it only has 86,XXX miles on it, with a new alternator, four new tires, and new battery. I'm as cheap as they get. I am not putting down your tool, but a little bit of elbow grease beats $10.
