Drivetrain questions. Maybe rebuild TH350?

Sorry, the person at my dads work said that we would keep blowing out the OD because they were made from the same material as a bullet proof jacket (Not sure where to go with this??). Dad did not say this, was a different person. I still firmly believe that 200r4 would work.

Luckily enough (I suppose), he was asking around for people about rebuilding the trans/what to use. He came upon a person who said he did not have any transmissions BUT he had an `81 TA that had a motor blown with a 4 speed!! Everything is there but no motor. All but no trans and interior is a little rough. Asking $2500. (We had other things amongst a transmission we needed like new doors, trunk lid and other things. Has a set of American Racing 16` rims and all.) May go take a look at it this Sunday. We were wanting a standard car, even with no OD this would be so much more fun with this manual transmission. (I LOVE sound when you shift with manuals :) )

Pretty sure its a BW ST-10. We can also switch a bunch of other things over. (This car came with rear disc, so rare ws6? We already have disc rear)

Might not have been so bad that he keeps hearing people say that the 200r4 is bad :P

I would only have one problem with the motor. It was an auto car, and would need a pilot bushing installed in the end of the crankshaft. I hear that the crank needs to be machined or for a bushing to be machined on O/D when using an auto crank
.
It seems this would eliminate the problem of needing crank machined again (http://store.dickmillerracing.com/crankshaftadapterbearing.aspx). Would this work? It states that end of the input shaft would need shaved down a hair or the crank to be drilled roughly. (What would it need? Not wantng to send crank to machine shop again.)

Apart from that. The donor car should have everything needed to transplant the transmission. If not I am sure I can find the stuff that it needs to work.

I'd drill the crank myself in the motor as long as you know the depth and the drill diameter, since its not a full drill in. Id recheck your crank endplay when done though.

You wouldnt want to add the end of the trans input shaft back on once its cut.

Cant be too complicated................... Dick Miller knows his stuff!

Sorry, just had a bit of a moment. lol. I remembered I had to get my rotating assembly rebalanced because of new H-beam rods and pistons. Would it not make sense to have it machined at the same time it goes for balancing? - Yes. That way I could install the proper bushing. (Any advantage of pilot bushing vs bearing?) I would probably get them to install it as well.

What are some things to look for on this car?

-I had already bought 2 F-body (Both 1980), and I had looked at another car but deal did not go through (Never guess, another 80! haha. It just randomly happened to all be 80) I have knowledge of problematic rust area`s like floors, trunk, rockers, and especially the dog legs between door-wheel well.

What should I look for in the transmission? Has no motor so can`t drive. Also what else to watch out for?

Bearing is easier friction wise , bushing will do.

Pull the cover on the trans to look for broken gears/ parts or metal in the oil.

For the 4 speed, we would need a few things.

-clutch fork boot
-throwout bearing
-pilot bearing
-clutch disc
-pressure plate
-rebuild kit
-shifter, and linkage for shifter
-trans tunnel hump
-flywheel
-gear oil for trans

What are recommended brands for these items? I have not dealt with any brands regarding transmission so who should I look for and who to avoid?

Anything else to buy? Clutch fork is there but a bit rusty. Bellhousing in good shape as well.
