Im looking to upgrade my 64 Catalina's brake system from a single master cylinder to a dual master. Any suggestions on a brand?

are you converting to front disk brakes?

I don't think so. I wasn't able to find a kit that would really work for me, so it has the stock drums.

I don't know if there is a Kit available, but I would use a 67 Master cylinder for a Drum Brake car (67 was the 1st year they had a dual master cylinder, and the 1st year for optional disc brakes so make sure you don't get a disc brake master, also make sure it is for Power or manual brakes, same as your car.) Then change the proportioning valve to a 67 drum style, and run the needed extra lines.

I have only seen kits for disc brake conversions, and the only car I swapped in a dual master cylinder with out converting to disc's was a 66 Lemans. That is how I did it. required a lot of tube bending.

Do you know that you’re brakes drums and shoes are bigger that a half ton Chevy pu? In 1965 or 66 Chevy trucks master will fit you’re cat. And work with power or nonpower systems. And use a adjustable proportioning valve on the rear line

Hello Everyone,
I've got a client with a '65' Star Cruiser that needs a dual master cylinder conversion. Can anyone tell me what I need?
After seeing the above posts, I wonder if the same parts would apply. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Brian

I googled Star Cruiser and can not find a GM vehicle with that exact name. So can you supply more information.

Hi melsg5,

Thanks for replying. Sorry I got the name wrong, it is a 1965 Star Chief not a Star Cruiser.
The car isn't here yet and I went by what the owner said- 'a woman'.
Hope this helps. I'm not looking forward to this job and she's already asking for a discount.
Thanks again
Brian
