My 2009 vibe has been nothing but good to me up until a few days ago. I went to start it before work one morning and the power steering light came on and obviously, the steering wheel locked up. I shut it off and restarted it, but still got the same thing. I didn't have time to fiddle with it, so I let it be. I tried later that night and still wasn't working. I called the dealer and they said to bring it in, but I went to start the car (to see if by chance it magically fixed itself) and now it just won't start. The first shot, it tried to start, but then kind of wound down to nothing. It sounds like it wants to start but won't turn over I guess. Anybody else have this issue? I know nothing about cars, however, surprisingly learning quite a bit while looking into the problem, but really want to make sure something like this would be covered under warranty. There's only 46k miles on it and I purchased it Oct 2008. Like I said, I've had no problems thus far. The only work I've had done to it was in regards to the Toyota recalls and typical maintenance.

if GM issued a recall on the steering, ask your dealer if GM has, it will be covered. meanwhile it sounds like you have a dead battery and just need a boost

not sure what you mean, the dead battery didnt cause the power steering failure

same issue

This issue just happened to me today. Seemed like power steering went out while parralel parking. Restarted the car 15 minutes later and then it seemed fine until i parraled parked again and power steering was lost. Drove another block when all warning lights turned on. Turned car off and now it wont start. Wont even turn over.

Could this be battery related. Doesnt seem like it.

I also have a 09 vibe. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

If you turn the headlights on and then try to start the vehicle, if the lights go dim, the battery is dead.

I have the same issue except i replaced my battery and alternator

The light comes on but when i put it in drive it goes away. Once in park and a few mins has passed it comes back

You need to have diagnostics run to determine why the light comes on. A GM dealer or a private shop can do that.
