Grand Am? Car fails to start; acts like low battery, but is not. Trunk lid flies open. On raising hood, and pushing back on positive battery cable, will usually start. What is source of problem?
It would probably be a good idea to mix up some baking soda and water and pull off the battery cables, being careful that they don't touch any metal and clean the cable side and battery side of the contact and make sure everything is completly dry before reconnecting. Sometimes the battery acid can create a small amount of electrical insulation that would cause the battery to not conduct electricity. If that doesn't work you probably need a replacement of the battery cables unless there is something wrong internally with the battery posts that would be remedied with replacing the battery. I think that you would be best off trying to clean the battery posts and the cable where it connects to those posts.
