I bought a 2002 Sunfire for my sons first car and it was fine for a few days. Now it has no brake lights, em, flashers or turn signals. I started with the basics, checkes the fuses and bulbs, all were fine. Checked the multi function switch and it was loose and intermittent on testing, bought a new one and nothing. Time to get serious and I pulled the front and rear harness and tested each wire for continuity and the grounds, all are fine. Researched online and heard a lot about the BCM ( whatever that is) and replaced it with a new one. Car would not start and it flashes theft_ still no lights. Put the old BCM in and the car starts- No lights. Replaced the flasher relay and the same. Bought the Haynes manual - it is useless there is no reference to the BCM in the entire book and nothing shows for it in the wiring diagrams. I am at a toal loss on what to do next......

I pulled the front harness and all the wires checked out OK. That was a pain to remove. When you mentioned the flasher switch are you talking about the switch that is part of the headlight turn signal switch, if so I replaced that.

No I meant the 4 way flasher switch

This is the switch that I replaced, the turn signal, light and 4 ways.
Did some more testing tonight and found out that I have 12.6 volts at the orange wire (hot side) of of the brake light switch. When I push the pedal it drop down to 1.2v. With the tester on the orange wire and 12.6v I start the car and it drops down to less than 1v without even pushing the pedal.
Totally confused now.

Have you checked the harness connector under the battery tray? Maybe even check the connector up inside the driver footwell.

I checked the front and rear harness and it is good. Today I unplugged the front harness by the battery and the rear by the kick panel, removed the turn/hazard switch, unplugged the flasher unit and pulled all the fuses except the one for the brake/turnsignals. I put a volt meter on the orange wire on the brake light switch, it read 12.6v. Pushed the pedal and it drops to 1.2v. This leads me to believe the load side has a wire going to ground somewhere. This could be a royal pain to find under the dash......:(
