What is the difference between the engines of the Torrent and the Eqo. Some said the price was to much for the Torrent. My dealer said sticker $24,200, has got everything but sunroof and leather. What do you think. Looking at buying soon.

I'm not sure what the engine difference is, but the Torrent has plenty of power and pep. I've been driving it on mountainous roads of West Virginia and Virginia, fully loaded with cargo, and it has lots of power and easily gets up those hills!

I drove both the Torrent and Equinox before I bought, and I concluded that the Torrent handled better and just looked better, inside and out. The interior is much more refined then the Chevy..... :)

I also compared the equinox with the torrent I now bought and love the difference. Even when shutting the doors, the Torrent seems so much more solid and stable. Handles AWESOME in this Ohio snow too with it's awd. :)

Well I hate to say it guys, but theree is no acttually difference between the engine of a Pontiac Torrent or Chevy Equinox. They share the same 3.4L V-6. They do have minor exterior/interior cosmetic differences, but nothing mechanical.
However, these two do kinda lean astray from their "step" sister, of which you guys left out of the discussion, the Saturn Vue. The Torrent and NOX are both a tad bit longer in length than the Vue, but the Vue, in contrast, has a slightly larger engine, and when I say slightly, I truly mean slightly; it sports a 3.5L V-6 which gives out 250 horses, that's 65 more horses. Now just so I don't sound bias, that engine is an upgrade, being that the Vue offers two engines, a 4 and a 6cyl.
The one bad thing about buying a newly designed car it's first year in production, emphasis on the Torrent, is that it shares the same features, for the most part, as it's predecessor, in this case the NOX. So for the most part, these vehicles are IDENTICAL. However, another negative about buying a vehicle it's first year out is that they, car manufactorers, tend to do little touch-up's here and there. Don't believe me, just look at the 2007 Pontiac Solstice; there's a GTP trim!
And now here comes an even greater bomb for the current Torrent owners, there's a GT badge being offered for the Torrent and an SS for the NOX. The sweet thing about these two upgrades is that they bypass the popular 3800 series engine and will be packing a 3.9L V-6, so taht should be nice. "...and the meek shall inherit the earth", and with that said guess who gets the even better upgrade; the sibling locked up in the basement, the Vue, she's getting an electric hybrid 4 cylinder based engine and will have Greenline as its suffix.
Well, not really good on good-byes, but Good-Bye! LOL
You guys take it easy...

Both the Equinox and Torrent have the same 3.4l V-6. These are GM designed engines built in China. That is why I bought the Vue. If I'm going to buy a foreign motor, I would rather buy the Honda V-6 in the Vue. I have not gotten the 22/28 mpg in the Vue however - getting around 19 mpg overall.

That is because the Honda engine runs at a higher RPM. Im a salesman at a chev/pontiac dealer in calgary alberta. We get a CONSTANT 25mpg in our 3.4s. Thats an average. On highway we get 30 on average. they are rated at 31-33 depending on awd or not. But we al know that is bull. lol:D
