why i start the car the light isnt on, but once i start driving it for 15 minutes the light will go on and it shuts off shortly after. it repeats this while i am driving. is this serious? the car runs normally when the light is on.

engine light on my 1995 pontiac grand am came on?

The Check Engine light is usually something to do with the emissions control system. It's not critical, and the car will still run, but you should get into a shop at your soonest convenience. They'll plug your engine into a scanner and tell you what's wrong. Burnt out o2 sensors are the most common (but not only) reason for the light. Try a local shop over a dealer as they usually charge less for the scan.
