I have a 2000 T/A with 5.7 ls1 engine with headers. there is a rattle that seems to be coming from the top end of the engine. it doesn't rattle at idle or not as noticable. but between 1500 and 2500 it is real pronounced. when it get's over 3000 rpm it pretty much goes away. it sometimes sounds like a rod knocking but there are no shavings in the oil after two oil changes. oil pressure is about 50 lbs after it is warmed up and consistent. (no fluctuation) I have been told it sounds like a rocker arm.
Are the rocker arms adjustable on this engine and also does these heads have screw in studs or pressed in studs. it is somewhat intermittent as it is not as bad sometimes (you have to play with the throttle to make it rattle) I even suspected a lifter that is not staying pumped up. and advice as to where to look would be greatly appreciated.
