engine smoke from exhaust

i'm have an issue with lots of smoke coming from the 2.2 in my 2001 pontiac sunfire.it some times smokes just a bit when it first starts up.but i think it's just from sitting over night.but this past weekend when i started it up there was alot of smoke,as if seafoam was put in,or like i just did a burnout,which i would never do.i've done a couple of searches on google and found that the pcm (power control modual) may be at fault, from what i have read,it controls most if not all the other sensors.i may not be correct in the information that's here,but i'm just trying to understand what the problem might be and get it fixed,it's my daily driver.thanks in advance for any info received.

if you mean lots of white smoke you have a blown head gasket or cracked head and should stop driving the car immediately before you cause more damage. Do you see a creamy beige looking substance in the oil filler cap?

thanks for your comment melsg5,i experenced that part last year before i began taking off the head to have it redone.when i checked to oil on the dipstick it was as you said,very creamy.i replaced the valves and put a new head gasket on also last year,they're fine.valves are still in adjustment as they have been since i installed them.as i stated in my post,it's possible that the pcm could be at fault from what i've read on google,but as i've also read,it may not be the only problem.i'm taking to a shop in our town on friday to get it checked out.i'll post the outcome on here some time this weekend.thanks for your advice and also for viewing my post.

what color is the smoke?
when you had the head work done did a machine shop check the head surface to make sure it wasn't warped?
do you have a check engine light on?

you know I don't know if this is what it is but one time my Catalyitc converter went out on me and sure enough a lot of white smoke came out of the car.
