Engine Stalls

Hi,

Looking for some advise please. I have recently had my 455 TA engine and TH400 transmission rebuilt. It covered 40 miles since the rebuild. The car starts fine and ticks over but when I try to select reverse or drive the engine stalls. Any ideas ?

Need more information.
What type of distributor, points or electronic?
What carburetor, Rochester Quadrajet, Holley, Edelbrock?
Depending on your answers to the above questions.
Did you check dwell angle?
Did you check initial timing?
Did you check for a vacuum leak?
Did you adjust idle fuel mixture and idle speed screws?

Hi

It has a MSD electronic distributor and a Rochester Quadrajet 800.

I have no real mechanical knowledge at all and had the work carried out by a mechanic.

It did come from him running ok but as I have done limited mileage I can take it back but was hoping to be able to check a few bits prior to.

OK, so unless you have a way of checking the timing, a vacuum leak (possible disconnected hose), or adjusting the carburetor it would be best for you to bring the car back to the shop that did the work.

Choke flaps on top of the carb are not opening, or a large vacumn leak.
