Now, this isn't to say that I'm planning on making such a move with my daily driver, but I thought it'd be neat if I got a different vehicle and my Sunbird were left open to be a play vehicle.
So, I own a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird LE 2.0L. I am under the impression that the engine my car has is a re-branded Opel C20NE. I looked into the history of these engines, and noticed that the C20XE variant is DOHC. The C20XE seems to have been introduced into later model J-bodies as the Ecotec 2.2L L61.
Are these engines similar enough that one could swap in an L61 where the 2.0L was with only a little modification? I've seen people discuss doing this in 1995> model Cavalier's, Sunfire's and the like, but never older models.
