Need new mufflers for my trans am, wondering if anyone has any suggestions. We want it to sound throaty without having to worry about complaints from the neighbors.
a lot of people swear by flowmaster, They do sound nice, BUT!!! They do not flow as well as Dynomax. Dynomax sounds very similar to Flowmaster, but Flows a lot better. I use it on my 91 GTA, and I love it, I get compliments all the time on the way it sounds.
Hmmm 79 t/a ehh.. Niiice now does it have a Stock 400 or a 455.. i'd say go for Eddlebrock/slp if u do decide to go slp go 4 slp loud mouth!! it sounds wicked.. especially on t/a's
I use the Pypes race pro mufflers on my 76 ta with a 455 and they sound awsome but the car is a little loud. Pypes has a few different mufflers and you can hear them all on thier web site at pypes.com. I do like the sound of the dynomax and flowmaster but everyone has them, the eblebrock mufflers sound great as do the pypes and your car will not sound like every other car on the road.
the Pypes race pro definitly outflows the Dynomax because there is nothing to them. The Pypes are defintly raspy but with a pontiac motor and ta splitters it sounds awsome, just pure power. The Dynomax mufflers sound great but there is no diference in sound with them ran on a little chevy 350 or a monster pontiac 455. The Pypes sound is more like the sound from the old american street cars of the 60's and 70's. I would go to all the manufactures web sites and they should have sound clips of the mufflers.
The Ultra Flo Dynomax mufflers that I have flow enough for 1100 hp. They sound very deep. Almost like a subwoofer. They are not any louder than the Blowmasters I had on it but, sound way better. Blowmasters are wimpy sounding. On the other hand the super turbo Dynomax muffs are good for about 450 hp. They are very quiet at idle and cruise but get louder when you gag it.
try texastransam.com they have some really sweet sounding mufflers there were created for the TA. i have a set on mine and i love the sound. just enough to rumble but not to irritate. they are low profile also so they do not hang down like the others.
